The Kansas Buffet Company at 2230 S. Princeton Road in Ottawa has closed permanently, according to multiple reports.
An employee who didn’t wish to be identified said they were called and told not to report to work on Monday. A sign on the door of the restaurant also indicated that it was closed. An Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce representative said it was the Chamber’s understanding that the restaurant would not reopen.
It was a year ago in July that the Sirloin Stockade became the Kansas Buffet Company after six Sirloin Stockade and Coyote Canyon restaurants in Kansas were purchased by the Kelly Restaurant Group, based in San Diego.
The Ottawa location is not the only one closing. Kansas Buffet restaurants in Arkansas City and Topeka also have closed, according to media reports.
Other Kansas Buffet restaurants are located in Coffeyville, Hutchinson, and Salina.
The Kelly Restaurant Group owns more than 100 restaurants in 21 states, according to a 2017 news release.
Calls to the Kelly Restaurant Group were not immediately returned.
