Sheriff’s Office Arrests

• 11:56 a.m. Wednesday, Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center, 226 S. Beech St., a 17-year-old Ottawa boy on a Franklin County warrant for aggravated assault, theft, criminal carrying of a weapon, unlawful discharge of a firearm in a city and disorderly conduct.

• 3:16 p.m. Wednesday, 2200 block of East Logan Street, Ottawa, Michael Gilliam, 37, Kansas City, Missouri, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a warrant for another jurisdiction, after being stopped for a traffic infraction. A passenger in the vehicle, Trevel Snoddy, 31, Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested on a warrant for another jurisdiction. He was also issued a notice to appear on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia.

• 2:36 a.m. Thursday, Franklin County Adult Detention Center, 305 S. Main St., Christopher Jimboy, 26, Lawrence, on a Franklin County warrant for failure to appear.

• 10:36 a.m. Thursday, Franklin County Adult Detention Center, 305 S. Main St., Jesse Lindsey, 40, Paola, on a Franklin County warrant for failure to appear.

• 12:46 p.m. Thursday, Franklin County Adult Detention Center, 305 S. Main St., Michael Wacker, 49, Wichita, on a Franklin County warrant for probation violation.

• 1:37 p.m. Thursday, 1300 block of South Main Street, Jonathan Gordon, 40, Ottawa, on a Franklin County warrant for failure to appear.

• 11:52 p.m. Thursday, Franklin County Adult Detention Center, 305 S. Main St., Michael Wacker, 49, Wichita, on a out-of-county warrant for failure to appear.

Police Department Arrests

• 2 p.m. Wednesday, 400 block of East Second Street, Hanford Atchison, 58, Ottawa, on a warrant and on suspicion of interference with law enforcement.

• 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, 300 block of North Locust Street, Samuel Salazar, 24, Ottawa, on a City of Ottawa warrant.

Incidents

• 8:14 a.m. Wednesday, Lane, a Lane woman reported a known individual violated a protection from abuse order. The case is under investigation.

• 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, Old U.S. 50, received a report of a possible sex offense. The case is under investigation.

• 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, Rantoul, a possible sex offense involving a minor was reported to have taken place about one year ago. The case is under investigation.

• 7:59 p.m. Thursday, 1400 block of K-273, Williamsburg, a caller reported a possible fire at this residence. Fire crews arrived and found smoke in an attic. Unknown damage estimate at this time.

Thefts

• 3:51 p.m. Wednesday, 300 block of East South Street, Richmond, a healthcare provider reported misuse of funds, for one of their residents. The case is under investigation.

Accidents

• 6:22 p.m. Wednesday, 3400 block of I-35 at milepost 188, Ottawa, a 2018 Honda Accord driven by Robert Loomis, 41, Van Buren, Arkansas, was northbound on I-35 when it hit a large piece of tire in the roadway. The vehicle received extensive damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

• 6:22 p.m. Wednesday, 3500 block of I-35 at milepost 188, Ottawa, a 2016 Toyota Prius driven by Kevin Wyatt, 59, Omaha, Nebraska, was northbound on I-35 when it hit a large piece of tire in the roadway. The vehicle received minor damage and was able to be driven away. No injuries were reported.

• 9:49 p.m. Wednesday, 1000 block of Idaho Road, Williamsburg, a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban driven by John Rubick, 31, Williamsburg, was northbound on Idaho Road when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported.

• 2:55 p.m. Thursday, 2100 block of I-35 at milepost 176, a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Adam Phelon, 28, Lyndon, was northbound on I-35 when Phelon failed to notice traffic had slowed for an accident and his vehicle struck the back of a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by Darrick Garcia, 34, Antonito, Colorado. No injuries were reported.

• 6:29 p.m. Thursday, 3700 block of Finney Road, a 2008 Kia driven by a 17-year-old Princeton girl stopped at a stop sign and was struck from behind by a 1988 Ford F-250 driven by a 17-year-old Ottawa girl. No injuries were reported.

• Wednesday: I-35 at milepost 198, assist other agency; 700 block of Main Street, trespass.

• Thursday: 700 block of Main Street, welfare check; 700 block of Main Street, juvenile complaint; 500 block of Maple Street, animal complaint.

Ottawa Fire Department

• 12:36 p.m. Wednesday, 900 block of North King Street, authorized controlled burning.

• 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, 700 block of South Locust Street, remove biological hazard.

• 2:02 p.m. Thursday, 2300 block of I-35, tractor-trailer fire.

• Firefighters assisted with nine medical calls Wednesday through Thursday.
