A Pomona man was arrested Tuesday afternoon pending formal charges of stealing a truck from the Casey’s General Store, K-68 and Main Street, after 11 p.m. Monday, law enforcement officials said.
Philip J. Guyle Jr., 24, was arrested and transported to the Franklin County Adult Detention Center, Adam Weingartner, Ottawa assistant police chief, said.
The vehicle belonged to Midwest RV, 2515 E. Logan St., Ottawa, and the driver left the truck unlocked and running and went inside the business, police said. When the driver returned, the truck was gone, Weingartner said. Surveillance video shows the vehicle traveling west on K-68 from the parking lot. On Tuesday, an acquaintance of the business and truck owner spotted the truck in Gardner and called Gardner police, who located and stopped the vehicle and contacted the Ottawa police, Weingartner said.
Weingartner reminded drivers they should not leave vehicles running unattended and to lock vehicles.
“This is the second vehicle stolen this summer from the same location that were left unlocked with keys in them,” he said.
