Audrey Marie (Goodman) Mills, 95, passed away at Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Monday, Dec. 11, 2018.

Audrey was born June 10, 1923, in Tovey, Ill, to Otto E. Goodman and Mary E. (McQuiston) Mills. Audrey graduated from Madrid High School, Madrid, Iowa, in 1941. After graduation, she worked as a stenographer in Des Moines, Iowa before marrying Robert Hernan Mills in Denver in 1947. She had two sons, Lee Goodman Mills, who passed away in 2018, and Hans Michael Mills. Bob and Audrey raised their sons in Sioux Falls, SD, before moving to Des Moines where she worked for Bankers’ Life. They spent their retirement in Grinnell, Iowa. After her husband’s death in 2003, Audrey moved to Ottawa.

Audrey enjoyed handwork such as sewing, embroidery, crochet, knitting and quilting throughout her entire adult life. She joined two quilt guilds in Grinnell and was a member of Sunflower Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Ottawa before moving to Brookside in Overbrook, Kan.

Audrey is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hans Michael Mills and Debra Whitlock-Mills; her daughter-in-law, Catherine Ann Ecroyd; three grand-daughters, Stefanie Lee Mills; Joanna Catherine Mills; Rebecca Mary (Mills) Alderman and husband Alex; and two great-grandchildren, Max William and Sophia Fay.

Because Audrey believed no child should go without a present at Christmas, the family has asked that her legacy continue through donations made to KVC Holiday Heroes in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
