Franklin County will be under a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 5 p.m. today until 6 a.m. Wednesday according to the U.S. National Weather Service.

There will be Freezing rain developing late Tuesday afternoon, transitioning to snow late tonight and persisting through the

overnight. Total snow accumulations of around an inch and ice accumulations of under a tenth of an inch are expected. Winds will gust as high as 30 mph.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

All high school athletic contests in the area have been postponed for today. Before heading out tonight, call ahead to see if the event has been postponed.
