He was born July 5, 1946, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, the son of Gardner Finch and Mary Sue (Evans) Finch. David was a near lifelong Franklin County resident living most of his life in the Peoria area. For a few years, he moved with his family to Salt Lake City, Utah graduating, while there, from Granger High School with the class of 1964.
David spent his professional career in oil drilling and pipeline construction, retiring in 2013.
David enjoyed bowling league on Thursday nights when he was younger and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Tauy Aerie 2700, Ottawa. David loved caring for his goats and chickens on his farm. He also loved to take his dog for walks. He was never one to sit and rest. He was always busy putting something together or building something. He enjoyed painting statues out at the house also. He enjoyed taking trips with Linda, and when they would go to the casino he spent lots of time at the penny slots. David could visit with anyone all day and be content with the conversation. Most important in his life was his family whom he loved dearly, especially his grandchildren. Each of them felt uniquely special to him in their own way.
On June 5, 1970, David was united in marriage to Linda Westhoff at Wellsville, Kansas. They enjoyed forty-eight years of loving marriage together.
