This week, the Ottawa High School Theatre Department (The Fellowship of the Stage) is presenting their Spring show, “Penny for Your Thoughts” by Scott Haan.

“‘Penny for Your Thoughts’ is a romantic comedy about Penny and the little brain people that live in her head,” said Amy Miller, OHS Theatre instructor. “Think ‘Inside Out’ on stage.”

With no finished stage currently on the OHS campus (due to construction), this spring’s rehearsal process has proved more challenging than usual.

“Because OHS Theatre department has no home at the moment, we rehearse in a room at the high school using chairs for set, and only get to move to the OMA at the beginning of show week, which gives very few days for tech and dress rehearsals,” Miller said. “But, the students have always risen to the challenge, committing to their roles -- either on or back stage -- and to the show and department.”

“Penny for Your Thoughts” will be the second-to-last performance at the OMA, before the department’s new facilities are finished.

“We’ve one more show next fall that will be presented at the OMA (in October,) and then the Performing Arts Center at Ottawa High School opens!” Miller said. It will be a fantastic facility for everyone. Theatre, as well as chorus and band students, cannot wait to perform for the community on that stage!”

The show will run 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium, 301 S. Hickory St., Ottawa. Tickets are $8.00 and available at the door.
