If you ever wondered if your vote matters, look no further that the results of a special election in Wellsville. A provisional ballot counted Monday by the Franklin County Commission defeated a half-cent sales tax brought forward by the City of Wellsville.

A special election on June 4 left the issued tied at 62-62. The one provisional ballot was opened Monday during the canvass after the Franklin County commissioner study session.

The purpose of the revenue generated from the sales tax was to be used for the benefit of the general public and for public purposes to enhance community and quality-of-life services offered within the corporate boundaries of the city, including but not limited to library services, and to assist persons or entities within the City in preserving significant historical elements of the City for future generations to enjoy according to the ballot.
