Cody Mason, 27, a life-long resident of Ottawa, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 21, 2019.

A Celebration of Life is planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at First Christian Church, of Ottawa, Kansas. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cody Mason Memorial Fund.

Cody was born March 31, 1992, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Steve and Lexie Mason. Cody was the third child of four children.

Cody loved to entertain everyone with his sense of humor and care free personality. He had a huge heart and a contagious laugh. There was never a dull moment when Cody was around, he had no fear and lived life to the fullest each and every day. Cody never could sit still, he had to always be doing something, whether it was at work or his sister conning him into helping her with anything she needed.

Cody loved with his whole heart and would be the first person there if anyone needed anything.

Cody enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, jamming out to music, spending time with family, hanging out with friends, being spontaneous, laughing and always wearing a smile on his face. His biggest love was his daughter Kenzli. The bond Cody and Kenzli shared was simply beautiful. Kenzli was the light of Cody’s life, his mini-me, his “little woman” and best friend. There was no greater love than the love that they shared for one another.

Cody was a loving and caring person, devoted father, brother, grandson, uncle and an amazing friend, always thinking of others first. “To know him was to love him”.

Cody is preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Lexie Mason; grandfather, Charles “CR” Donart; and uncle Jim Droddy.

Cody is survived by his daughter, Kenzli; sister Cathleen and husband, Dustin VanLeiden; brother, Grant Mason and wife, Desta, and brother, Austen Mason; grandparents, Carrol and Imogene Droddy, and Barbara Donart; the mother of his child and a special friend, Deni Slankard; five nieces, Emily VanLeiden, Emali, Emersyn, Kimber and Niyya; four nephews, Lane, Kaiden, Akari and Ryker; multiple cousins, aunts and uncles; three step-siblings, Matthew Sessions and wife, Kayla, Emili Sessions and companion, Darius, Ashley Sessions, and step-mother Ann Mason.
