The Wellsville High School girls basketball team swept a pair of league foes this week. On Tuesday, the Eagles defeated Anderson County, 52-23, and Thursday rolled to a 65-31 win over Iola.

Demi Aamold and Aubrey Ball scored 16 points each for the Eagles against Anderson County. Madi McCoy paced Wellsville with 22 points against Iola. Aamold tossed in 17 points.

Central Heights was held to 12 points in the final three quarters of Tuesday’s 54-27 loss to Northern Heights.

Abby Brown paced Central Heights with 13 points.

West Franklin gave Lyndon a battle before falling 49-36 Tuesday in Lyndon.

“My girls played hard and worked the offense for a good shot, but the shots just wouldn’t fall in for us,” West Franklin coach Nancy Reed said. “We did a much better job coming out to play to start the second half. We started the half by forcing Lyndon into turnovers, but didn’t capitalize on the turnovers."

Wellsville 74, Iola 67

Wellsville snapped a skid Thursday with a 74-67 win over Iola in overtime. Wellsville outscored Iola 13-6 in overtime.

On Tuesday, Santa Fe Trail used a 20-8 margin in the third quarter Tuesday to nip 64-59.

Luke Richards netted 24 points against SFT. Jackson Showalter led Wellsville with 18 in the victory.

Wellsville plays JC Harmon 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Baldwin Invitational.
