James Hal Needham, 87, of Lane, Kansas, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Rock Creek of Ottawa.

James Hal Needham was born June 1, 1932 in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Raymond Milton and Frances Benita (Calvin) Needham. He grew up in Lane and graduated from Lane High School in 1950. James was drafted into the United States Army in 1953.
In that same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Delores Jones, on July 31. Even though they later divorced, they continued to care for and help one another. James was stationed in Bamberg, Germany for 2.5 years, then returned home to start a family and farm. He worked for Rock Island for several years and retired from working for Franklin County Road and Bridge Crew.
James is survived by daughter, Virginia Hughes, of Ottawa; daughter, Penny Needham, of Ottawa; daughter Kim (Corey) Brenner, of Panama City, Florida; brother, Rex Needham, of Lane, Kansas; grandchildren: Chris and Dawn Hutchinson, of Wellsville; Ashton and Holly Schulz, of Ottawa; Desiree and Lance Lamborn, of St. Joseph, Missouri; Tyler Hutchinson and Dominique Huffman, of Ottawa; Alisha and Taylor Glock, of Lawson, Missouri; Cortney and Steven Jenkins, of Rhode Island; Dakota Zinn, of Panama City, Florida; three great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Max Needham.
