The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to close US-169 to traffic between Maryland Road at Welda and the south US-169/US-59 junction starting Wednesday, weather permitting. The closure will be in effect until late 2020.
Northbound US-169 traffic will be placed on a signed state route detour as follows: from the US-169/US-54 junction at Iola, travel east on US-54 to the US-54/US-59 junction at Moran, then travel north and west on US-59 to the south US-59/US-169 junction. Southbound US-169 traffic should take the same detour route in the opposite direction.
The highway closure is part of the $21 million project to reconstruct and rehabilitate 7.5 miles of US-169 in Anderson County. Work started in early March.
