A ceremony — a moment of reflection — to honor local veterans will take Monday in downtown Ottawa.
Franklin County Commissioner Roy Dunn and Sherry Wright will lay a wreath at 3 p.m. at the Franklin County Veterans Memorial, Fourth and Main St. in conjunction of National Moment of Remembrance Day, which was passed by Congress in 2000.
The event will take place on this Memorial Day. The plan is to have everybody pause for a duration of one minute to remember those who died in military service to the United States, Wright said.
Those in attendance to honor local military heroes during this Moment of Reflection, remember to follow the Phase 2 guidelines of social distancing and wearing of masks.
“Thanks on behalf of Franklin County and all who have lost family, who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country and community,” Wright said.
