Fifth District State Rep. Mark Samsel, R-Wellsville, received an endorsement from Life Political Action Committee (KFL PAC), the state's leading pro-life organization.

"KFL PAC’s endorsement process is both rigorous and grassroots-driven," Melissa Leach said on behalf of KFL PAC. "In every corner of the state, pro-lifers are focused on electing legislators who will support the Value Them Both Amendment to the Kansas Constitution. We urge Kansans to take our voter guide to the ballot and share as widely as possible."

Samsel said the endorsement is big for his re-election campaign.

"When voters head to the polls, I'm proud to be the only candidate in House District 5 endorsed by Kansans for Life," Samsel said. "I appreciate KFL's endorsement, which acknowledges our consistent voting record over the last two years and our future commitment. House District 5 is decidedly pro-life, and I look forward to continuing that fight in Topeka as we strive towards a constitutional amendment that reflects the will of the people."

Earlier this year, Samsel earned the endorsement of Kansas educators and students through the Kansas National Education Association.

Samsel served one term in the state House with his election in 2018.

Mark Powls, R-Garnett, is challenging Samsel in the Aug. 4 primary with the winner advancing to the general election in November.
