Mark Mayo, 58, of Ottawa, Kansas, formerly of Elmdale, Kansas, died Monday, June 18, 2018, at Ottawa Retirement Village, Inc. in Ottawa.

A visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. The celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church U.S.A. in Cottonwood Falls.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.

The son of Ronald John, Jr. and Myrna Dene (Ure) Mayo, Mark Ronald was born Nov. 18, 1959, in Colby, Kansas. He graduated from Chase County High School in 1978 and from Kansas State University with bachelor of science degrees in Environmental Engineering Technology and Biology. He worked as an environmental engineer monitoring waste disposal sites.

Mark and Anne Rainey Clancy were married in 1989 and to this union were born three sons, Zachary, Tyler, and Maxwell. They later divorced. Mark was a member of the Ottawa Community Church. He enjoyed working with Coral Drawer on his computer and reading the Bible. He and his brothers would spend time fishing and hunting and he was an avid KSU alumni.

Mark is survived by his mother, Myrna of Elmdale; three sons: Zachary Mayo and Tyler Mayo of Lawrence and Maxwell Mayo of Ottawa; three brothers: Tim Mayo of Palm Springs, California, David (Kim) Mayo of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Chris (Janet) Mayo of Gardner; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ron.
