Robert Lyle (Bob) French, of Ottawa, Kansas, died on Feb. 11, 2019, at age 74, at Baldwin Health and Rehabilitation.
Bob’s family will greet friends for a visitation Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa. He was born on Dec. 8, 1944, to Lyle and Jean (Patterson) French in Spencer, Iowa. He grew up on a farm near Peterson, Iowa, and attended elementary school there. Later, his family moved to Kansas where he graduated from Wichita East High School. He continued his education at Pittsburg State University in Kansas. There he received his B.S. degree and later a Masters in Industrial Education in 1992. He also owned a photography business. When he moved to Ottawa, Kansas, he taught printing and photography for USD No. 290. He also worked on the school computers and had another photography business. He was married but divorced and had two sons, Sean and Travis French. He was of the Methodist faith. His parents predeceased him. He enjoyed his family, especially flying with his dad, his friends, cars, cameras, computers and casinos.
Left to mourn his passing are three sisters: Joan (French) Tracy, of the Villages, Florida; Carolyn (French) Snow and Terry, of Wichita, Kansas; and Jacqueline (French) Boyles, and Kit, also of Wichita, Kansas; nieces: Kimberly (Tracy) Franklin, and Michael, of St. Petersburg, Florida; Suzanne Shinn, of Los Angeles, California; and Haley Boyles, of Wichita, Kansas; two nephews, Douglas (Stacey) Tracy, of Highland Village, Texas; and Dakota Boyles, of Wichita, Kansas, as well as two grand nieces, Kinsley and Reagan Tracy, of Highland Village, Texas; his aunt, Gretchen Patterson, of Linn Grove, Iowa; and a very special friend.
