Mark E. Collins, 67, of Waverly, Kan., passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019.
A memorial service is planned for 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. The family will meet with friends immediately following the service.
Mark was born July 10, 1952, in Ottawa. He was the son of John Edward and Lena (Peine) Collins. He was a graduate of Williamsburg High School, with the class of 1970.
Mark started his lifelong career as a farmer in 1968. He started farming with his father and Uncle Frank when he was in high school, but there wasn’t room for him. He started in custom silage chopping and lime spreading. In 1985, he went broke farming and had to start all over again south of Waverly. While Mark had his share of bad luck, he had a good life being self-employed and wanted to thank Bryan, Steve, Karen and their children and Sara and David for their help through some tough times. He loved working and considered his hobby to be helping his children and grandchildren.
Mark was preceded in death by his children, Jennifer, Chris and Chad. He is survived by his grandchildren, Jessie, Colby, Wade and Seth.
Mark preferred no memorial donations be given in his name, but that those who knew him would instead pay it forward.
