Dixie Lee (Blackwell) Soper

Dixie Lee (Blackwell) Soper, age 84, died at her home on September 6th, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born October 8th, 1936, in Ottawa, Kansas, to the late Morgan and Francis (Murray) Blackwell. She was united in marriage on her 18th birthday to Bobby Joe Soper on October 8th, 1954. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before his death in 2007.

Dixie survived by her three children Joe Soper, Trudy Snyder, and Eric Soper. She was blessed with six surviving grandchildren Kasey Hanson, Jessica Soper, Austin Soper, Brandi Servaes, Kristine leach, and Amber Moulthrop, along with many great-grandchildren.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren Codi Soper and Matt Soper, and Florence and Pete Kitterman, who cared for Dixie as their own daughter.

Dixie's greatest accomplishment was her family, with whom she loved to spend time cooking holiday dinners, including rolls and pies from scratch. Dixie was actively involved in many social groups, including the Red Hat Society, Eastern Star, Share and Care, and more. In her later years, she enjoyed playing dominos with her daughter and son-in-law. She devoted her life to helping those in need through her 34 years of service with the SRS. Despite many challenges throughout life, Dixie always found the positive. Dixie was a friend to many and loved by all.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
