Catherine Sue Thompson, 65 of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away, Aug. 16, 2020, at Advent Health Shawnee Mission.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2020, at Living Way Apostolic Church, Ottawa. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until the service Friday at the church. She was born on Feb. 13, 1955, in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of James Albert LeRoux and Deloris (Taylor) Hardy.
Catherine moved to Ottawa in 1998 from Winchester, Kansas. She held several jobs during her life. She was a Septic Truck Driver for her father’s Septic Tank Service. She was a waitress, and she was an office manager for a Lawrence taxi cab service for several years.
On March 2, 1972, Catherine was united in marriage to Michael Thompson. Michael preceded her in death on July 16, 2014.
Catherine was an active and vivacious member of the Living Way Apostolic Church of Ottawa. She taught Sunday school there for many years and was always there to help with any task a church member needed help with. She spent many hours since Michael’s passing caring for her beloved cat, Rocky. She was a big Elvis fan. Anyone who knew her knew about her love for “The King.” Her favorite pastime was to spend her hours with her family. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She loved to play Skip-Bo with her family while listening to old-time gospel music.
Catherine is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Thompson, her parents, 11 siblings, and a great-granddaughter, Annabelle Ross.
She is survived by three daughters, Sheri Thompson, Leavenworth, Kansas; Cathy Bell and husband, Robert, Ottawa, Kansas; Rebecca Kent, Ottawa, Kansas; son, Michael Thompson, Ottawa, Kansas; sister, Teresa Adams and husband, Nathan, Ottawa, Kansas.
Catherine will be profoundly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
