Nancy M. Reynolds, 74, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa after a battle with COVID-19.
A private family memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at the United Methodist Church in Burlington. Nancy was born July 19, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Thomas and Murial (Miller) Reynolds. As a young girl, her family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she graduated from Southeast High School. She then graduated from Beloit College in Wisconsin with her Bachelors in Arts degree.
She followed her husband to Eagle Butte, South Dakota, and lived on an Indian Reservation to help teach grade school children until she had her first and only child, Gailyn.
Nancy spent the majority of her life in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, raising her daughter and working in accounting as a single Mom. She loved to read, shop and decorate, and she was a proud member of Mensa. As Nancy grew older she followed her daughter out of the city and moved to Ottawa, Kansas, to enjoy small town living and was very involved with the community. She joined Faith Lutheran Church, where she volunteered at the church, and enjoyed her bible study. She continued to visit her grandchildren in Burlington.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Smith Reynolds.
She leaves her daughter, Gailyn Ledom and husband, Bobby; grandsons, Jacob and Nicholas; two step-granddaughters, Sydney and Allyson, all of Burlington.
