Chris Bird, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, was called home to be with our Lord on Jan. 1, 2021.

Funeral Mass was Jan. 9, 2021, at St. Edward Catholic Church. Memorials can be made to Jonah's Food Pantry of Carlsbad, New Mexico, or Trinity United Methodist Church of Ottawa, Kansas. 

Chris was born Aug. 8, 1960, to David and Norma (Lowe) Bird, of Hepler, Kansas. He graduated class of 1978 of Ottawa, Kansas., Wichita State University, University of St. Thomas Houston and earned his MBA from ENMU. 

Chris married Joyce Stuever,  June 25, 1983, in Andale, Kansas. Together they raised four daughters. The last 22 years, he worked as Executive VP of Operations for CNB Bank. 

He was involved in Kiwanis, BPOE#1558 NM, Senior Olympics, St. Edward Catholic Church and led Bible Study for many years. He wrote poetry and lived his life in service to God. 

Chris is survived by his parents and brother Scott (Bev) Bird, of Ottawa; his wife, Joyce;, daughters, Lindsey (Tristan) Holtry, of Wichita, Kansas; Amber (Nathan) Kahle and Candace Bird, of Papillion, Nebraska; Kayla (Zachary) Martinez, of Artesia, New Mexico; grandchildren, Tyler, Madison, Mason, Amelia and Carter Holtry; Landon, Hailey and Tanner Kahle.
