Joan Jean “Jo” Northway, 93, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Rock Creek, of Ottawa, for their great care and companionship during the stays for both Jo and Sammy.
She was born Tuesday, Dec. 6, 1927, to Harry and Grace (Hume) Finch. Jo grew up on the family farm near Wellsville, attended Briles Grade School and graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1945. She had siblings Eldon, Mabel and Doris.
Jo married Samuel James Northway, June 25, 1946. They lived in San Bernardino, California, for a number of years, returning home to Ottawa in 1962. They had two daughters, Jeanie and Judy.
She worked as a secretary and office manager at both the First Baptist and First United Methodist churches in Ottawa for many years.
Her husband died Oct. 5, 2017.
She is survived by her daughters and grandchildren, Liam, Luke (Sabrina) and Laura (Steve); three great-grandchildren, Will, Sammy and Andy; nieces and nephews.
