YORK, Nebraska — Caroline Jenkins scored three goals, and the No. 10 Lady Braves bounced back nicely Saturday in Nebraska.

Ottawa University’s women’s soccer team stomped York College 6-0 in its first match since Sept. 8 against a non-ranked opponent.

Jenkins, senior forward, scored three straight goals to give Ottawa a big lead in the first half. Courtney Gonzalez, senior defender, added another goal at the 37:54 mark to put OU up 4-0 at halftime. The Lady Braves scored three goals within a three-minute and two-second time frame in the first half.

Senior forwards Ana Gonzalez and Jessica Beall each scored goals in the second half to put the match out of reach.

OU lead York 20-12 in total shots, and 11-6 in shots-on-goal.

Kodie Johnson, senior goalkeeper, had five saves, and Nicole Tallent, freshman goalkeepr, notched one save.

Ottawa (6-2-1) plays 5 p.m. Wednesday at home against Southwestern College.


YORK, Nebraska — The OU men also righted the ship after dropping three of their last four matches. The Braves topped York 2-0 Saturday.

Cain Scott, freshman forward, got things going early for the Braves with a goal less than seven minutes into the contest.

Lewis Verdouw, junior midfielder, added a goal at the 24:29 mark. Both goals were assisted by Ross Anderson, senior midfielder.

Ottawa’s defense pitched its third shutout of the season the rest of the way. Angel Cruz, sophomore goalkeeper, tallied seven saves.

The Braves (3-5-1) play 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Southwestern College.
