Aquinas College handed Ottawa its second loss of the season Saturday in a close match.
The Lady Saints topped the Ottawa University women’s lacrosse team 10-6 at OU’s Peoples Bank Field.
Ottawa tied the score 3-3 at halftime with two straight goals by Kiarah Thomas, junior midfielder.
Aquinas scored four of the first five goals in the second half, including three in a row by Anna Curcuru.
Thomas and Jessica Babler, senior attacker, scored back-to-back goals in less than a minute to cut the Saint lead to 7-6 with 6:34 left, but Aquinas ended the match with three unaswered goals. Megan Pyrett scored the final two goals for Aquinas in the final 3:04 minutes to seal the win.
Thomas led OU with three goals. Bailey Williams, senior goalkeeper, had eight saves. Pyrett led all scorers with five goals.
The Lady Braves bounced back Sunday with a 16-1 win at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.
Ottawa scored the first eight goals of the match, and outscored the Lady Blue Jays 7-0 in the second half.
Thomas once again led Ou in scoring with five goals. Quinn Crandall, freshman attacker, had four goals.
Ottawa had a 52-4 advantage in shots, and a 42-3 advantage in shots on goal.
The Lady Braves (1-2) play 6 p.m. Saturday at Johnson and Wales University in Denver, Colorado.
