Daniel Jacobs notched 29 kills and the Ottawa University men’s volleyball team continued its run of impressive victories.

The Braves edged No. 7 Park University Wednesday at home 22-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-12, marking the team’s seventh straight win. Three of its last four wins have come against ranked opponents, including two against Park.

Ottawa made a huge comeback after falling behind, winning the final three sets. In the third set, Park was five points from sealing a win after Andrea Maggio got a kill to make it 20-19 Pirates. The Braves responded by scoring six of the next seven points to rally for the set victory, including kills by Penieli Tulikihihifo, junior outside hitter, Brandon Oswald, junior outside hitter, and Jacobs, senior outside hitter.

The Braves used that momentum to take an early lead in the fourth set and never looked back. OU had a 19-13 and finished with the 25-18 win.

Once again, Ottawa took an early lead in the fifth set, jumping ahead 7-3 on a kill by Ike Nwachie, senior middle blocker. Three attack errors aided a 4-0 swing by the Pirates that tied the set. Park, however, never led in the final set. The Braves scored seven of the final 11 points to take the 15-12 win, ending on a kill by Tulikihihifo.

Jacobs put on a show on Senior Night, leading all players with 29 kills on 59 attacks. He finished with a .322 attacking percentage and added 11 digs. Teammate Troy Lance, sophomore middle blocker, had 12 kills and a .550 attacking percentage, and Oswald had 13 kills and a .321 attacking percentage.

As a team, Ottawa had a .277 attacking percentage to Park’s .244. Each team had 11 blocks, and the Braves had a 63-40 advantage in defensive digs. OU’s Errol Basconcillo, senior libero, led all players with 20 digs.

The No. 5-ranked Braves (16-5) play 7 p.m. Friday against No. 3 Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa.
