When Ottawa’s offense went stagnant, Kiarah Thomas took over.

The junior midfielder on the Ottawa University women’s lacrosse team scored all 12 of her team’s goals in Saturday’s win over visiting Saint Ambrose University. That included nine straight, unanswered scores to open up the second half after the Lady Braves struggled offensively in the first 30 minutes.

Thomas finished 12-16 on shots in the 12-6 win, scoring her first three goals of the second half in the opening 1:36 minutes. Her nine unanswered goals were scored in less than 16 minutes.

The win marks the fourth consecutive for Ottawa (4-2), after the team started out 0-2.

Ottawa fell behind 3-1 at the end of the first half before lighting up the scoreoboard in the second.

Kayla Saucedo, senior defender, had two assists, and Bailey Williams, junior goalkeeper, finished with 12 saves for OU.

Ottawa plays 1 p.m. Saturday at (RV) Benedictine College in Atchison.
