PAOLA — Cyclone golfers kicked off their season with a big win.
The Ottawa High School boys golf team finished first Monday at the Paola County Club with a score of 333. They won by 34 strokes with Louisburg coming in second with a 367 score.
Isaac Bones, junior, placed second with an 81, followed by Dylan Fanning, junior, who shot an 82. Cade Gollier, sophomore, was fifth with an 84. Payton Funk, senior, took seventh with an 86, and Collin Hanson, junior, was 10th with a 90.
“This was a great way to start the season,” Mark Eggold, OHS head boys golf coach, said. “Everyone had a solid outing in less than ideal conditions. It is good to see that we will not be counting on any one player. We have four or five golfers that can step up at anytime to post a good score.”
Ottawa is schedule to play next Monday at the Hayden Invitational at the Shawnee County Club.
