Big offensive innings lifted Ottawa High to its third and fourth wins.

The Lady Cyclone softball blew by visiting De Soto in Tuesday’s doubleheader at Orlis Cox Sports Complex, 901 W. Second St., Ottawa. They swept 14-4 in five innings and 9-0 in seven.

Ottawa’s offense put together seven-run innings in both games, including a seven-run, six-hit bottom of the fourth in Game 1 that answered three runs De Soto scored in the previous frame.

“I was really proud of the girls,” Amber Harris, OHS head softball coach, said. “We started out strong and then [De Soto] came back, and we didn’t let up. We kept pushing. They definitely bounced back fast when runs scored.”

Kamryn Shaffer, senior pitcher/shortstop, scored five runs through both games and drove in three. Justine Kennington, junior, scored five runs from the leadoff spot and swiped four bags.

Ottawa (4-0) plays a doubleheader starting 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Spring Hill High School. The games are a reschedule from March 29.
