Following a far-reaching road trip, Ottawa will close out June at home.
The Ottawa American Legion Post 60 Arrows split their Monday doubleheader at Newton, winning Game 1 10-6 and falling in the nightcap 13-1. The team plays a home doubleheader starting 6 p.m. today at Orlis Cox Sports Complex, 901 W. Second St., Ottawa, against Chanute. The team gets a break from regular games this weekend, instead hosting the second annual Pete Cearfoss Memorial Golf Tournament 2 p.m. Saturday at Great Life Golf and Fitness, 1001 E. Logan St., Ottawa. The annual Ottawa American Legion Baseball Alumni Game is set for 1 p.m. Sunday at Orlis Cox. The Arrows return to action for their final scheduled regular season home games starting 6 p.m. Tuesday in a doubleheader against Junction City.
Today’s games mark the first time Ottawa (6-10) and Chanute have seen each other this season after matching up six times last year. The Arrows had Chanute’s number in 2017, beating the team five out of six times, including in the AAA Zone Championship and once in the AAA State Tournament.
After starting the season 0-8, Ottawa has won six of its last eight games.
