WELLSVILLE — The postseason is about taking control of games. The Wellsville High School girls are off to a good start with a dominating performance Monday in the first round of sub-state.
Eagles rolled by Prairie View, 80-32, to advance to the semifinals Friday in Burlington against the winner of Tuesday’s clash between Osage City and Burlington.
Top-seeded Wellsville (17-4) scored 37 points in the first quarter and never looked back.
“We had a great start to the game,” Wellsville coach Brock Campbell said. “We were able to get a lot of turnovers with our press. We shot well and shared the ball on offense. We had four girls score in double figures.”
Demi Aamold led the balanced Eagle attack with 17 points. Madi McCoy fired in 16 points. Lexi McDaniel and Aubrey Ball netted 13 points apiece.
Prairie View (32) — Boone 2, Kirkpatrick 3, Kellerman 12, Rauber 1, Kirkpatrick 4, Stainbrook 8, Paisley 2.
