Crews close Main Street bridge as river rises

City of Ottawa Public Works crews closed the Main St. bridge over the Marais des Cygnes River during the noon hour Monday. The flood control gates have not been used since May 2019. There were reports of several roads in the county closed because of high water.
The Marais des Cygnes River level measured 33 feet at 12:30 p.m. Monday and expected to keep rising throughout Monday. Flood stage at the bridge is 31 feet.
