Silver Alert canceled after Lawrence Police Department locates missing 94-year-old woman

Update 12:00 p.m. Saturday: The Lawrence Police Department has located Marilyn Dowell after someone saw the department's Silver Alert, saw Dowell's car in Lawrence and notified authorities.

"Community works in Lawrence," the department tweeted online. "Thank you for caring about your neighbors."

The Lawrence Police Department on Saturday morning asked the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to issue a Silver Alert for Marilyn Dowell, who was reported missing by a caregiver Saturday morning.

Dowell had last been heard from Friday evening and was last seen 7:45 a.m. Saturday leaving Lawrence. A neighbor had told police they believed Dowell could have been headed to Arizona.

A Silver Alert was issued for Dowell especially because she has previously experienced dementia-like symptoms and is a fall risk, according to the Lawrence Police Department.
