The time has come to place wreaths on veterans graves in Franklin County,

The Wreaths Across Franklin County committee needs volunteers help in the effort. They will meet 9 a.m. Saturday at the Highland Cemetery.

“ We do this each year in December to honor our veterans who have passed,” Sherry Wright, Wreaths Across Franklin County committee member, said. “This is a way to show others why and how we do what we do, to honor our Veterans for THEIR sacrifices to our county.

“If you can help, please come out bring a friend or several. Lets help our Scouts and family members who will be helping Saturday.”

Wright said no need to be apprehensive about coming to help.

“We will show you what needs to be done,” she said. “So if you are apprehensive about doing it, don't worry it is easy and a solemn tribute to our veterans.”

The volunteers will place wreaths in each cemetery in the county.

“All the other cemeteries have people assigned to them, so they will be placing them out also,” Wright said. “However, our Highland Cemetery has the largest amount of veterans buried there. There are around 1,000 graves to have wreaths place on them.”
