Wise becomes first Falcon selected to Shrine Bowl
West Franklin senior Cameron Wise is the school’s first football player to be selected to the Shrine Bowl.
Wise was one of 72 senior players named to play in the all-star game. The selections — in a vote by the state media members, were announced Saturday.
Wise will play for the East squad. The Shrine Bowl will be played on June 26 in Hutchinson.
Wise is a Northwest Missouri State commit.
Following the announcement, Wise tweeted, “I am beyond honored to have been selected for the 2021 Kansas Shrine bowl.”
The Falcon senior was a dominant force this past season. Wise made his presence felt in all facets of the game. He scored touchdowns in four ways: rushing, receiving, passing, and defense.
“He was our No. 1 threat offensively and teams knew they had to stop him to beat us, and he still performed at a high level every week,” Falcon coach Nate Teichgraeber said. “His size, strength, and speed are a tough combination for teams to stop. Defensively, he presents a lot of problems with his size and speed.”
Wise rushed for 1,108 yards on 160 attempts and scored 10 touchdowns as a senior. He had 12 receptions for 276 yards (23 yards per reception) with two touchdowns. He also passed for a touchdown. On defense, he had 39 tackles (two sacks), two forced fumbles, an interception and scored a defensive touchdown.
