Flyers may not be owed much when plans change

The in-flight showings of “Elf” and “Home Alone” are a nice touch during a flight, and the “Love Actually”-like reunions at airports are always sweet. But ask most travelers to describe flying during the holidays and they paint a picture more stressful than joyous: snaking lines at check-in, security and even at Starbucks; a scramble for chairs and power outlets; and annoying passengers who won’t keep their masks on.

Oaks dying across Mid-Atlantic

TAKOMA PARK, Md. – Jason and Aga Jones loved the magnificent oak tree that was once the centerpiece of their backyard. In 2013 – a year after they bought their home in Takoma Park, Maryland – they restored a circular stone retaining wall around the base of the tree. In 2019, they added an extension to the back of the home with enormous windows from which they could admire the majestic branches and watch squirrels build nests and collect acorns.
