And judging by what his former coworkers have to say about him, it was most likely a positive interaction. Walrod served as Franklin County’s zoning and planning director from 2000 to 2021 and helped create the department, which oversees land development across the county, especially in rural agricultural areas. Walrod passed away on February 21, just eight months after retiring from his position with the county at the age of 83. Though he spent over two decades with Franklin County, his career in planning and zoning lasted over 50 years.
