Ottawa University hosted a Zoom presentation by history and geography professor Dr. Steven Foulke on March 9 called “Let’s Talk About Ukraine”. Using his background in cultural geography, Foulke explained the history of Ukraine, why Russian President Vladimir Putin chose to invade, and what could come next for the country, which has been ravaged by onslaughts of Russian troops since the invasion began in February of 2022.
The Ottawa USD 290 School Board held its monthly meeting on March 10 virtually due to the winter storm. The Board held two executive sessions to discuss internal matters, but among the topics discussed openly were the purchase of Chromebooks and monitors for students, staff and administrators, as well as the approval of administrators’ contracts for the 2022-2023 and 2023- 2024 school years.
