TOPEKA — Republicans and Democrats along with a voter advocacy group introduced Thursday three competing redistricting maps outlining new boundaries for the 40 Kansas Senate districts in response to population shifts during the past decade.
Legislature to tackle major issues
The 2022 legislative session is quickly coming to a close. Last week was turnaround, considered the halfway point of session. However, it is not the same amount of time to complete the “second half” of session. The first half is about 1.5 months, while the second half is less than 4 weeks. We have about two weeks for committee meetings and then a few full days on the floor to work bills.

The Ottawa and Wellsville Police Departments participated in the 2022 Kansas City Polar Plunge on March 5 at Lake Olathe Swim Beach. The annual event is held at locations across the state during the months of February and March, with a Solar Splash held in the summer.

Louis Elkin Short, son of Lewis J. and Opal Short, died peacefully March 7, 2022 at home. Born in Lexington, Missouri, he graduated from high school in 1956. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force and ended his military career in Vietnam.
