Jane Ellen Boles, 71, of Ottawa, KS passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022. She was born May 6, 1950 in Ottawa, KS the daughter of Robert Brenner and Nancy (Hartpence) Duncan. Jane grew up and attended schools in Ottawa, graduating from Ottawa High School. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident living in Ottawa, Williamsburg, and Richmond.

During the March 9 Franklin County Commission meeting, County Sheriff Jeff Richards announced several new developments within the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. According to Richards, Franklin County Undersheriff Kiel Lasswell has been accepted to the Department of Homeland Security’s Leadership Academy and will be heading to Washington, D.C., at the end of March.

The Ottawa University men’s wrestling team made history this weekend at the 2022 NAIA Men’s Wrestling Championship in Wichita. JD Perez, 184 pounds finished fifth, becoming only the second wrestler in program history to earn a spot on the podium and be named a NAIA All-American.
