Franklin County Commission Recap: April 6

During their April 6 meeting, Franklin County commissioners were briefed by County Financial Officer David Arteberry on options the County has for refinancing or paying off its outstanding debts. According to Arteberry, there are two public building bonds that will become callable to refinanced beginning in June, both of which were established in 2014.

Ottawa City Commission Recap: April 7

Zachary Clayton was sworn in as an Ottawa City Commissioner during the April 7th meeting. Clayton, who previously ran for commission in the November regular election, was selected from five candidates to fill Tom Weigand’s seat upon his resignation. Clayton is an Ottawa native with a background in information technology and independent contracting.

Community Childcare Event to be held at Franklin County Annex April 11

Four local organizations – the Franklin County Development Council (FCDC), the East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Coalition (ECKAN), Childcare Aware Eastern Kansas, and the Kansas State University Research and Extension District – are partnering to hold a community childcare discussion on April 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Franklin County Annex.
