The AdventHealth Ottawa Auxiliary has a 50-year tradition of awarding scholarships to those entering a health-related career. In the past five decades, the organization has awarded 351 scholarships totaling $$208,150.
The Sunflower Piecemakers Quilt Guild is holding its 36th annual Quilt Show on Saturday, April 23 from 10 am to 5 pm at the Goppert Building in Ottawa. Over 160 quilts created and collected by 40 guild members will featured in the show, including a queen-sized “opportunity quilt” that will be available to win through a raffle.
There will be an art exhibit featuring watercolor art by Mary Hall. Those attending will receive a complimentary original or print.
An annual rite of spring is mowing yards. The City of Ottawa would like to remind patrons that grass clippings should be kept in the yard.
Two Franklin County students studying at Kansas State University, Isaac Wingert and Cyla Gardner, were selected to receive scholarships from the Kansas Farm Bureau (KFB) to support their education in the field of agriculture.

During their April 20 meeting, the Ottawa City commissioners confirmed reappointments and appointments to various board positions. All members will serve two, three, or four-year terms. Reappointments are as follows:
William Gary Browning, age 72 of Ottawa, KS passed away Monday April 18, 2022 at his home. William was born December 11, 1950 in Zanesville, OH the son of Willard Victor Browning and Daisey Bonniville Koble. He grew up in the New Lexington, OH area until 1971 when he moved to Ottawa, KS, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Larry P. Barrett, 81, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
