TOPEKA — Republican gubernatorial candidate Derek Schmidt waited until the filing deadline Wednesday to announce his selection of a U.S. Senate aide as his running mate in the 2022 campaign.
The Douglas County Sheriff ’s Office has identified the suspect in a hit-and-run accident that killed a ten-year-old girl last month, Sheriff Jay Armbrister said. “The driver of the van was identified immediately after locating the van, and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of this person.” Armbrister said.
The legislature was called back on May 23. In an unusual move, a motion was made to end the 2022 session, sine die. Even though it was an abrupt end to session, we were able to complete some important work that day.
