WSU announces spring honor roll

Local Wichita State University students were among the 3,178 students who were on the WSU Dean’s Honor Roll for spring 2022. To be included on the honor roll, a student must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Carnegie Center to host reception for local artist Irene Schomacker July 15

The Carnegie Cultural Center is hosting a reception for local artist Irene Schomacker on July 15 from 4 to 6 pm to celebrate her exhibit, Artful Strokes, which ends July 17. Schomacker, who also works as a floral artist at Turner Flowers and manages an Airbnb on Hickory Street, specializes in painting landscapes, animals, portraits and abstracts.

Moran tours AdventHealth in Ottawa

U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran visited to the AdventHealth facility in Ottawa Tuesday. “This week, I had the opportunity to visit AdventHealth in Ottawa for a tour of their facility,” Moran wrote in a news release. “During the visit, I saw firsthand the efforts of the staff at AdventHealth to provide quality health and wellness care for the surrounding community. This center offers a wide variety of services for nearby Kansans, including senior and children’s care, diabetes treatment, a full spectrum of cancer care, emergency and urgent care services, occupational medicine, neurology and neurosurgical care, orthopedic services and lab testing.
