Kansas man sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for hate crime in Paola

A Kansas man who threatened a Black male juvenile living in Paola with a knife because of his race will serve 27 months in federal prison and 18 months on supervised release for the hate crime. Court documents say Colton Donner, 27, in September 2019 noticed a Black man walking on the sidewalk while driving through a residential area of Paola.

Franklin County selected to join Entrepreneurship Community Partnership through NetWork Kansas

Franklin County has been named one of three Kansas counties selected to join NetWork Kansas’ Entrepreneurship Community Partnership, or E-Community, for 2022. As an E-Community member, Franklin County will receive gap financing funds for local businesses and will receive funding for, and be able to participate in, NetWork Kansas programs such as bootcanps created for rural businesses to expand their growth.

Wichita State University shares results of Franklin Co. Labor Study sponsored by FCDC

The Franklin County Development Council (FCDC) partnered with Wichita State University’s W. Frank Barton School of business to conduct a labor study for Franklin County and surrounding areas. Findings from the study, which was the first of its kind conducted in the area since 2015, were published on June 24.
