The Ottawa University volleyball team has owned the KCAC the past eight seasons under coach Melissa Blessington. The Ottawa coach sports a 128-14 KCAC mark as she enters her ninth season and an overall record of 220-86.
Archer extraordinaire Aydin Franks has added another medal to her extensive collection, clinching the first place title at the State Games of America in Iowa held last weekend. Franks, an incoming sophomore at Ottawa High School, competed against adults in the Open Female Class competition during the games, shooting an impressive 418 out of 480 possible points to win the gold.
Ottawa’s DARE Camp returned last week for the first time since the pandemic began, much to the joy of nearly 100 fifth-graders and their counselors. The three-day camp, which runs from Thursday to Saturday each year, is held at the Prairie Star Ranch in Williamsburg.
