Fern Leota Brooks

Fern Leota Brooks of West Manchester, OH and formerly of Ottawa, KS was born August 6, 1930 to the late Floyd and Lottie (Gish) Barton. She peacefully passed from this life to eternity on October 4, 2022 at the age of 92 years. She was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church on Sunday, June 15, 1947, to which she remained faithful until death. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Eight Mile Old German Baptist Brethren Church near Centropolis, KS. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Eight Mile Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery also near Centropolis, KS. Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH and Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home in Ottawa, KS are assisting the family with arrangements. Judith I. Pope

Judith I. Pope, 82, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away, Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. Ms. Pope was born July 14, 1940 in Ottawa, KS, to George and Florence Pope. She was survived by her son, Jerry Kline (Shar); daughter, Susan Bond (Kevin); grandchildren, Carrie Hammond (Jeff), Stuart Kline, and Lucian Bond; and great grandchildren, Jaylin Sayers and Connor Bond. Judy and her family were blessed to have an additional daughter/sister, Mary Estes, who is a longtime friend and caregiver to Judy. Judy taught school in Excelsior Springs school district for thirty plus years, was a cheerleading sponsor and was a coach for the ESHS dance team (Tigerettes), which she lovingly referred to as “her girls”. She retired from the school district in 1998 and upon retirement continued working in retail at Stage/Goody’s in Excelsior Springs for 17 years. A memorial, Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church of Excelsior Springs, in Excelsior Springs, MO.
