Sheriff’s Office investigates death on I-35 Sunday
A 30-year-old Shawnee man was found dead in his vehicle Sunday evening on Interstate 35 – the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot, Franklin County Sheriff ’s officials said. Shortly before 6:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to I-35 and Kansas Highway 33 after receiving a report that a vehicle left the interstate’s southbound lane and was in the median.
OHS, Wellsville runners qualify for state meet
e Ottawa and Wellsville cross country teams will be represented at the state meet. Wellsville standout Nash McDaniel, who just missed qualifying a year ago, finished fifth in the tough Council Grove regional.
OU athletes medal in Mexico
Ottawa University track and field athletes Jaylan Washington, Jacob Ludwick and Laurel Barber all earned medals representing Team USA at the 2022 FISU America Games in Merida, Mexico. Ludwick and Washington earning silver medals in their respective events. Barber earned a bronze medal.

OU stops Eagles in 5 sets
The Ottawa University volleyball took a big step toward capturing the KCAC regular season title with a five-set win over Oklahoma Wesleyan. The two teams went into the match undefeated in conference play and were two of the hottest teams in the NAIA.
Cyclones face historic program in playoffs
The Ottawa High School football team faces one of its biggest challenges Friday in the opening round of the 4A playoffs. The Cyclones (2-6) drew Miege (62).The game is set for 7 p.m.
