Male friend reluctant to receive advice regarding his prostate

DEAR DR. ROACH: I recently had a health scare about my prostate, but fortunately, I was able to get it treated successfully. Because of my close call (I was diagnosed with a moderately aggressive prostate cancer and was apparently cured by surgery), I encourage my male friends to seek medical advice for prostate issues. But one friend seems cynical and reluctant to seek medical advice. Without being too pushy, how do I convince him it’s in his own best interest to see a doctor? -- A.M.

Derek Schmidt says no COVID-19 vaccine mandate for Kansas kids: ‘Not on my watch’

TOPEKA — Republican gubernatorial candidate Derek Schmidt pledged Saturday to block any requirement that Kansas children be immunized from COVID-19 before attending school. The pledge is a response to Thursday’s widely misunderstood vote by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory committee, which endorsed COVID-19 vaccines for kids and adults.

Ready or Not?

Dear Readers, I knew it was that time of year before the National Weather Service issued freeze and frost warnings for a third of the country, including most of Kansas. So I braced for it to the extent that I closed my window and made sure the thermostat was set to kick on if the house temperature dropped below 68 degrees. _e heater did its job and I slept, quilted cozy warm. When I woke to a yard blanketed white, I wasn’t surprised. But because I also knew I was unprepared for Winter weather, shivers unrelated to cold ran down my spine and alarms went off in my head.

KDOT requests comments on STIP program
