OHS football takes steps forward
The Ottawa High School football team took many strides forward this season. The Cyclones’ 2-7 season in 2022 is so much different than the 2021 2-7 season.
Concerns raised about dispute between physicians, local hospital
Problems stemming from a contract between AdventHealth Ottawa and a group of local physicians have Franklin County residents not only questioning reasons for the fallout, but about the quality of care and services provided at the hospital in the doctors’ absence.
OU women awarded shoes
The Ottawa University women’s wrestling team’s shoes were supplied by Yes! Athletics, the NAIA’s official women’s wrestling shoe. OU’s women’s wrestling program began in 2014 and was one of the first women’s wrestling programs in the NAIA.
Bird places high at state
The Ottawa High School cross country runners finished their seasons Saturday at the 4A State meet on a high note in Wamego. Seniors Abby Bird and Katia Huffman ended their careers in the state race.
Ottawa close to title
The Ottawa University moved another step closer to a conference title with a sweep of Sterling. The Lady Braves have won 12 straight matches and are 10-0 in the KCAC with two matches remaining in the regular season.
Nash runs well at state
Wellsville junior Nash McDaniel completed his best cross country season Saturday at the 3A State race in Lawrence. McDaniel, who was running in his first state meet, finished 26th with a time of 17:11.
Few plays separate OU from winning
Ottawa University football coach Nick Davis has been preaching all season how close the Braves are to being a winning team. The Braves have stumbled record-wise, winning one game so far.
Historic finish for Falcons
The West Franklin boys cross country team rewrote school history Saturday in the 3A State meet at Rim Rock. The Falcons raced to a fourth-place finish, the highest finish ever for a boys team at state.
