The Wellsville boys golf team will have 12 players and none of them will be a senior.First-year coach Michael Wilson likes what he has seen in the early season practices.“This is my first season as the Wellsville boys head golf coach and I could not be more excited to start off with such an incredible group of young men,” Wilson said.
The West Franklin baseball team is attempting to reload the roster with new talent and compete at a high level.The Falcons return two starters in junior Gunnar McMahon and sophomore Chandler Scott.“We return several players who saw some varsity time or who had a spot start here and there,” West Franklin coach Daniel Waggoner said.McMahon earned first team all-league honors last season as an infielder.“He also was a huge part of the pitching rotation, as well as one of the best offensive weapons from last year,” Waggoner said.Scott was an outfielder and catcher for the Falcons last season.“Chandler is also one of the most competitive players I’ve had,” Waggoner said.Other returners include, sophomores Zeek Dowd, Brig Corwine, and Maverick Moody; Juniors, Linden Harmon and Wyatt McCullough; and seniors, Walker New, Beckham Moody, and Damein Fischer.
The West Franklin boys golf team will be learning on the fly this season with just two players with any experience.“With six golfers and a coach all in their first year obviously inexperience is the theme for the squad as a whole,” Falcons coach Skyler Allen said.
The Wellsville baseball team expects to get the most from each player this season in coach Evan Cleveland’s first season.“With a low number of kids out this season, the outlook for this season still looks strong,” Cleveland said.
